RetroArch is a free and open source frontend emulator software download filed under console emulators and made available by libretro for Windows.

The review for RetroArch has not been completed yet, but it was tested by an editor here on a PC and a list of features has been compiled; see below.

RetroArch is an open-source project that makes use of a powerful development interface called Libretro. Libretro is an interface that allows you to make cross-platform applications that can use rich features such as OpenGL, cross-platform camera support, location support, and more in the future. RetroArch 1.9 is available to all software users as a free download for Windows. As an open source project, you are free to view the source code and distribute this software application freely. The program was created by the developer as a freeware product, but donations for the continued development are highly appreciated. Once you’ve downloaded and installed Retroarch, the first step is to find the best cores to play your Sega Genesis games. Go to the Main Menu icon at the far left, then click “Load Core” and scroll down to “Download a Core.” Scroll down to the Sega section.


RetroArch runs programs converted into dynamic libraries called libretro cores, using several user interfaces such as command-line interface, a few graphical user interfaces (GUI) optimized for gamepads, several input, audio and video drivers.

It enables you to run classic games on a wide range of computers and consoles through its slick graphical interface. Settings are also unified, so configuration is done once and for all. The program also includes some advanced features, like shaders, netplay, rewinding, and more.
